29th KAGYU MONLAM CHENMO : AKSHOBHYA RETREAT
30th January 2012 – 16th February 2012
A maximum of twenty one participants will attend the 2012 pre-Monlam
Akshobhya Retreat. Retreatants will include both ordained and lay
practitioners, but this year there will be a special contingent drawn
from lamas from the different centres in Canada.
Akshobhya Retreat Daily Schedule
Breakfast: 7.00am
Session One: 8.00am – 9.30am
Session Two: 10.00am – 11.30am
Lunch: 12.00pm
Session Three: 2.00pm – 3.30pm
Session Four: 4.00pm – 5.30pm
All participants will keep Sojong during the retreat and, in addition to
the practice sessions, will receive special teachings from the Gyalwang
Karmapa, including the empowerment, the transmission and the
instructions for the Akshobhya practice.
Following the conclusion of the retreat, the retreatants will attend the
three principal days of the annual pre-Losar Mahakala Puja, from 17th –
19th February 2012.
On 23rd February, ordained members of the retreat will attend the
special lunch offering at Tergar Monastery, and that afternoon, all
retreatants will attend the special Dharmapala Ritual.
Following Losar, retreatants will attend Kagyu Monlam Chenmo, and will
be present at the Akshobhya Fire Ritual at Tergar Monastery on the
penultimate evening of the Monlam.
